If you've ever stood in front of a painting and felt something stir — and then felt that flicker fade the moment you wondered whether you were "getting it right" — you already understand why this work exists.

Katherine grew up in a small agricultural town in Northern California, surrounded by people who worked the land and took quiet, serious pride in what they produced. Nobody handed them recognition. They just showed up, day after day, and did something worth doing. They inspired her.

She taught herself to draw at the kitchen table, spending hours replicating old photographs until realism became instinct. Museum visits as a child gave her something else: the conviction that art could teach and bear witness, not just decorate. But she also noticed the velvet rope — the unspoken suggestion that truly engaging with art required credentials she didn't have.

She didn't accept that. And she doesn't make art that way.

For five years she stopped creating and went back to working with the land. It stripped things down. She came out of it with a clear sense of purpose: to make visible the everyday people — the craftspeople, the laborers, the tradition-keepers — whose work quietly holds the world together, and who rarely appear on museum walls.

Every piece she makes comes with the story behind it. Not as a footnote — as part of the experience. Because the goal has never been to make art people hang on a wall. It's to make art people live with — pieces that start conversations, reward curiosity, and make the person who chose them feel like they knew something worth knowing.
